Made famous by ‘Lost in Translation’, the roof bar in the Park Hyatt is fabulous. While not really the kind of place I’d get a beer, the cocktails are fantastic; Emmet had a perfectly dry Martini with a small collection of olives alongside to be added to taste, I had a great Gin and Tonic with Yuzu (Japanese Lemon) and there were a great range of wierd and wacky things as well as serious whiskeys, wines and more.
The ambiance is very chilled with low light levels and a Jazz band but the whole experience is dominated by the incredible view. The bar’s 52nd floor location allows you to look down on all of the Park Hyatt’s surroundings and though we were sadly too late for sunset, Tokyo’s night light show is enthralling.
As you’d expect, drinks are on the pricey side though were less horrendous than we expected. If you can find the way in, which we found quite a challenge, it’s an excellent place to visit, even for just one drink.
